Alfred Marra is a vibraphonist and composer recently relocated to the Northwest after a 20 year immersion in the Northeast music scene. He holds a MM in percussion performance from the Boston Conservatorty where he studied with, Nancy Zeltsman, Pat Hollenbeck, Ed Saindon and Dave Samuels among others. Having a background in classical music as well as jazz he has developed his own unique sound which has been honed and utilized while leading and writing for Boston groups The Infinite Ensemble, Gillian Delear quintet and the Good Vibes Trio, as well his compositions have been played internationally in Europe and Asia. While the style is not easily pigeonholed, his music stems from a philosophy steeped in improvisational unity, creativity, soul, discretion and fun.
